Phase 1: Preparation and Impressions
During your first visit, our specialists focus on preparing the foundation.
- Numbing and Cleaning: We ensure the area is completely numb so you don’t feel a thing. We then remove any decayed or damaged portions of the tooth.
- Shaping the Tooth: To ensure the crown fits perfectly and doesn’t feel “bulky,” we gently shape the outer enamel.
- Digital Scanning: Forget the messy putty! We use high-precision digital scanners to take a 3D impression of your prepared tooth. This ensures your custom crown will match your bite with sub-millimeter accuracy.
- The Temporary Crown: Since your permanent crown is custom-crafted in a laboratory, we place a temporary crown to protect your tooth in the meantime.
Phase 2: The Final Fitting
Once your custom crown—usually made of high-quality porcelain or zirconia—is ready, you’ll return for the placement.
- Removal and Check: We remove the temporary and clean the tooth. We then “dry-fit” the new crown to check the color, shape, and how it aligns with your other teeth.
- Permanent Bonding: Once we are both happy with the look and feel, we use a strong dental adhesive to bond the crown permanently.
