Pediatric Dental Emergencies: What Every Parent Needs to Know

Children are active, and accidents happen. Whether it’s a fall from a bicycle or a sports injury, knowing how to handle a dental emergency can mean the difference between saving or losing a tooth.

Handling Common Emergencies:

  • Knocked-Out Baby Tooth: Do not try to put a baby tooth back in, as this can damage the permanent tooth growing underneath. Control any bleeding with clean gauze and contact us for an evaluation.
  • Knocked-Out Permanent Tooth: Time is critical. Find the tooth, hold it by the crown (the top part, not the root), and rinse it gently. If possible, place it back in the socket. If not, keep it moist in a glass of cold milk and rush to our clinic immediately.
  • Broken or Chipped Tooth: Rinse the mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the face to reduce swelling. Save any broken tooth fragments and bring them to the clinic.

At Novo Care, we prioritize urgent cases. By following proper emergency protocols and seeking immediate care, we can protect your child’s oral health after an accident.
